Drop in sessions that can be booked in advance, on a single workshop basis.
1 session is 2.5 hours long and is £24, taking place on the following Thursdays 3-5.30pm or 6.30-9pm:

Who is this for?
Anyone who has completed the beginner or intermediate course. It is also for ceramicists who have experience with ceramics and glaze and can work unsupervised. Helen will be at all sessions and although they are untutored, she will always have time for informal chats about technical things and questions.
What materials, tools and equipment are provided?
Kiln firings, pre made glazes, 1 type of clay are included in the cost of a session. List continues below. You can bring your own things, as long as they relate to stoneware, Eg if you want to bring a different clay or glaze, make sure it is stoneware clay, as I fire at cone 6, 1223 c
Materials included:
ES5 Earthstone; hand building /slab building clay.
ES20 Earthstone; hand building /slab building clay – usually for larger works. This clay is £4per KG. Please weigh the piece you want fired at the end of your session and write it in the Clay Dues book.
Coloured slips, variety of colours.
Underglazes, stronger colours
Variety of pre made glazes in buckets for dipping and smaller pots for brushing.
Raw ingredients; Oxides, carbonates, coloured stains in water mixes for rubbing in textures or similar.
Raw ingredients to mix glazes; by appointment only, (if you’ve done the intermediate course). Please get in touch before the session to share the (stoneware) glaze recipe you want to try, so I can facilitate it for your session. I have recipe books at the sessions as well.
Equipment and Tools:
Boards, cloths, rolling pins, stick guides, plaster moulds, slip for joining. Hair dryers.
A variety of mark making, carving, shaping, grating, slicing, scraping tools. 3 x full alphabet fonts and most tools that you would expect.
A large collection of brushes and specialist fettling sponges.
A collection of object patterns - to guide or inspire ideas and constructions.
Glaze recipe, clay techniques and ceramic design books and print outs.
Laminated guide reminders on how to use the materials and equipment.
Sessions are 2.5 hours long. Please include your setting up, and wiping down in this time.
There is no space in the studio to leave your work unless you are leaving it to be fired. Please take it home.
Help yourself to teas and coffee.
