Collection: Thursday afternoons / evenings in Sep & Oct 2026 - Beginners six week Ceramics & Glaze course with Helen Lucas

This course is about creative experimentation with ceramics and glaze. Helen has been teaching and working with ceramics and glaze for 20+ years. Helen's breadth of experience is invaluable when it comes to teaching creative ceramics and glaze. This course gives students the confidence to try things out and push the boundaries of material and function in pottery.

You will learn about oxides, engobes, slip decoration, application techniques, colour and texture in glaze. I also teach hand building with clay and slab construction techniques. Plus we will be inspired by contemporary and historic pottery design. This is ideally suited to beginners with no experience required, or anyone who wants to re start their past projects in ceramics and glaze.

All materials, equipment and firings provided. This is primarily a beginners course, for anyone new to ceramics and glaze or who have tried it before and need some reminders.

You will finish a piece every week which Helen will fire for you. There will be a section every week for glaze testing and glaze application of previous week's work.
