Studio Hire in Hove: One Space, So Many Ways to Use It

When we opened West Hove Studio, we pictured easels, paint and the odd printing press. What we didn't expect was how many different things people would dream up for the space. Since then our studio in Hove has been a supper club, a pottery workshop, a sewing room, an open house, a party venue and, every week, a dance floor complete with a disco ball.

If you're looking for a venue to hire in Brighton and Hove, here's a look at how other people use the space, and how it could work for you.

A light, flexible space to hire in Hove

The studio is a large, open, ground floor room in Hove with double aspect natural light. It's recommended for up to 22 people seated, and the tables and chairs all fold and stack away, so you can go from a classroom layout to a long dining table to an empty floor in minutes.

There's step-free access, paid on-street parking right outside, a small kitchen with a fridge and an art sink. Everything you need to set up, run your session and clear down afterwards.

Supper clubs and pop-up dining

Line the tables up end to end, add flowers and candles, and the studio makes a relaxed, characterful setting for a supper club in Brighton and Hove. The small kitchen with a fridge is handy for prep and keeping drinks cool, and there's room for a big, sociable table where everyone eats together.

Art, clay and sewing classes

This is where the studio really comes into its own. Local tutors run regular painting classes, life drawing, printmaking, pottery and sewing groups here, and the space is set up for exactly that. We have 13 floor-standing easels, 12 A1 drawing boards, two printing presses, an A0 cutting table, drying racks and an art sink, so there's no need to bring heavy kit with you.

Whether you're running a one-off clay workshop or a weekly sewing circle, you'll be in good company. If you're a tutor looking for a workshop space in Brighton and Hove, we'll also help you spread the word: your class goes on our What's On page, gets shared on Instagram and goes out in our monthly newsletter.

Dance classes, with a sound system and a disco ball

Yes, really. The studio has its own in-house sound system and a disco ball, and our weekly Dance Camp with Luke on Tuesday evenings is one of our most popular sessions. With plenty of clear floor space once the tables are stacked away, it works brilliantly for dance and fitness classes, or anything that needs room to move and music to move to.

Open houses, charity events and community gatherings

We've hosted open studio evenings, charity events and artist meetups, and the space adapts easily to each one. Use the exhibition boards to display work, set up rails and tables for a sale, or clear the floor for a talk with the projector and screen. If you're looking for a community space to hire in Brighton and Hove for a fundraiser, pop-up shop or gathering, get in touch.

Wellbeing and therapy groups

The calm, bright feel of the studio makes it a good fit for therapy groups, wellbeing sessions and support groups in Hove. It's a private, self-contained space on the ground floor, and with step-free access it's easy for everyone to get in and out.

Children's parties

Looking for a children's party venue in Hove with a bit more character than a church hall? The studio is a fun, creative setting for kids' parties, especially craft and art parties, and the disco ball and sound system mean it's ready for a dance party too. The art sink makes clearing up after messy play much less of a headache.

The studio can be hired by the hour, with better value for longer bookings, full days and full weekends. Every booking includes a free 30 minutes either side for setting up and clearing down.
