Festive Wreath Making Workshops in Hove: Pom-Poms, Mulled Wine and Good Company

Looking for something festive and a bit different to do in Brighton and Hove this Christmas? Our wreath making workshops are back at West Hove Studio, and if you've ever fancied a Christmas wreath that's colourful, fun and totally your own, this is the evening for you.

Forget the standard holly-and-pine-cone door wreath. Our wreaths combine lots of fresh Christmas foliage, including eucalyptus and olive, with your pick from a selection of contemporary little accessories, from colourful pom-poms, jingle bells and wooden stars to little battery-operated sparkly lights (last year's big favourite!). You can go bold and bright or keep things classic and traditional. Either way, you'll leave with a handmade Christmas wreath that's ready to hang on your door for the festive season.

A wreath making class with a difference

Our festive wreath workshops are led by Tracey Samuel, a knitwear designer who trained at Glasgow School of Art and Central Saint Martins. Colour and texture are her thing, which is why our wreaths look so different to anything you'll find in the shops.

You'll learn how to:

  • layer up lots of fresh Christmas foliage, including eucalyptus and olive
  • build up a balanced wreath on a sturdy base
  • choose from a selection of contemporary accessories, like pom-poms, bells, wooden stars and little sparkly lights, to make it your own
  • finish and hang your wreath so it looks great on a door, wall or mantelpiece

No craft experience needed. We'll guide you every step of the way.

From bare base to finished wreath

Here's how the wreaths came together last year, from the first layers of foliage to adding all the finishing touches.

The finishing touches

This is where everyone's personality really shines through. No two wreaths are ever the same.

Last year's wreath workshops were a hit

Last year's festive workshops were such a success. Everyone loved chatting and swapping creative ideas as their wreaths came together, and at the end we hung them all up on the wall to admire, talk about and share feedback. It was a lovely way to round off the evening.

Even people who'd never done any craft before really loved it, so don't worry if you're not the crafty type.

Here's what some of last year's guests had to say:

"Tracey was brilliant at showing me how to make it all work. I felt a bit overwhelmed by all the choices at first, but she put me at ease and encouraged me to just try things out. The group was so welcoming and it was all really easy. My wreath looked amazing and so individual!" – Mia

"I loved this wreath making workshop! It's so different to the traditional ones I've done before. My wreath was colourful and unique, with little sparkly lights, and it still looked great well into the new year, even once it had dried out." – Emma

"I absolutely loved this workshop. It really released my inner creative, and I was so pleased with my wreath. Tracey was really supportive and explained everything so clearly." – Louise
